According to The National Programme of Scientific Research and Development adopted in Poland in October 2008, the most important fields of Health research include the following:
- descriptive, analytical and molecular epidemiology of the civilization diseases;
- the causes and mechanisms of the development of diseases. Identification of useful markers in diagnostics and the development of new methods of treatment;
- the function of the nervous system and the diagnostics and treatment of mental, vascular and neurodegenerative disorders and addictions;
 - regenerative medicine, including the application of stem cells in the regeneration of tissues and organs;
- new technologies for pharmacotherapy.
