About the EECAlink

The EECAlink is a coordination action aimed at identification of joint research priorities of the EU and EECA countries and strengthening scientific collaboration among them. International Cooperation Partner Countries targeted by our proposal are: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The consortium gathers partners from: Armenia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Our priorities are

1) Encouragement and promotion of the international collaboration in Health sector through systematic support to creation of new research consortia and submitting proposals to the Health thematic priority of FP and Public Health Programme.

2) Stimulation of the further development of research consortia for FP7 and Public Health calls and supports these in preparation of their project proposals.

3) Identification of joint research interest of the EECA and the EU Member States and assure their effective communication to the relevant policy makers.

4) Strengthening and broadening of the existing research collaboration among participating university /academia partners.

5) Building up and strengthening the capacities of participating EECA countries for effective collaboration within the FP7 projects and in their administration.

Core Deliverables of the EECAlink project

1. Support the outreach of FP7 into the EECA counties, by bringing EECA participants, to  three brokerage events organized by the other coordination actions financed by the FP7

The EECAlink project offers a travel grant of 200 EUR to 60 scientists from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan to participate on the brokerage events of complementary FP7 actions, dedicated to the Health priority. More information.

The EECAlink offers a training session beneficiary to the participants of individual brokerage events (eg. proposal preparation, or basic orientation in the FP7) organised by partners initiatives. If your project/initiative is interested, please contact us.

2. Organization of a conference in Brussels with adjacent brokerage event, dedicated to the EECAlink partner countries and timely coordinated with the EC 2011 call announcement.

Final conference with brokerage event (in total approximately 100 participants), will be organised at the end of the project (autumn 2011) and we plan to organise own brokerage event there. We will present project outcomes, success stories, policy priorities screenings and general assessment of the project. More information will be published on this web site when relevant.

3. Delivery of twelve national capacity building events in all partner countries. The training will focus on efficient participation and understanding of the FP7 of the local Health research audience. Beside the general presentation about the FP7, it´s administration principles and financial rules, each EECA partner will cover a training session dedicated to the country specific topics linked with FP7.This capacity building event will be organised 8x in all EECA partner countries and 4x EU Member States.

Relevant information about the upcoming capacity building event in our partner state will be published in the News section on main page.

4. Delivery of eight policy sessions aiming at the discussion about possible topics for the future FP calls dedicated to the EECA countries

During the project life-time, we plan to organise eight policy meetings in EECA partner countries with expert group of five national representatives and the EC officer. Background document for the national discussions, will be created through the actions of WP2, which focuses on comparisons of the EECA national priorities in the field of Health. This comparison will allow focusing upon gaps and overlaps in these schemes and will help to identify possible themes for future calls under FP8, dedicated to countries external to the EU.

Target groups:

For the project communication and impact evaluation purposes, we have defined three major target stakeholder groups:

1. Policy makers – this target group is further divided into (i) European and (ii) national - the first stakeholder group represents a key element for creation of European added value through identification of joint research opportunities for future calls in the area of Health research

2. Universities and academia partners – the project is coordinated by the Charles University in Prague and represents a consortium of ten academic partners, who wish to both strengthen and extend their international collaboration in topics identified in FP7-TP Health programme

3. Wider RTD public – research and innovation managers and individual scientific group leaders from participating countries interested in submitting own FP7 proposals
